Crystal Valley

The Crystal Valley story started in the 1860s when mining for Andesite uncovered the spring. Andesite is a very fine gravel which contains crystals and is of volcanic origin. The spring originates deep, about 3 kilometres, below the volcanic plateau region of the North Island. The water flows through the Andesite Strata at the rate of 350,000 litres per day and emerges at the base of a geological formation known as St John's Terrace.
