Spain

Spain has some of the world’s legendary naturally sparkling waters in Vichy Catalan and Malavella. Still waters though remain the water of choice for most Spaniards. Traditionally mineral water has been drunk in bars as ‘agua mineral’ with wine to accompany the meal, but growth is now coming more from domestic sales for the home. Per capita consumption is also growing and some industry observers expect it will in time surpass that of even the French and Italians. Over half of all bottled waters in Spain come from the hill villages, such as Caldes de Malavella, of the Catalonia region between Barcelona and the Pyranees.
