As with wine, glass is usually the preferred packaging choice for waters presented in an epicurean context. Glass is also preferred for carbonated beverages, as gas dissipates over time when carbonated beverages are packaged in PET plastic. Tinted glass also protects the product from light, although for aesthetic reasons water is often packaged in clear glass to highlight its purity.
