Vichy Catalan
First bottled in 1889, this is Spain’s No.1 selling mineral water, and one of Europe’s legendary waters. The origins and history of Vichy Catalán are closely connected with the figure of Dr Modest Furest y Roca, a recognised physician of his time. In 1880, he purchased what is today the properties making up the spa, which opened in 1898. The waters were declared of public utility by Royal Order on 5 March 1883, and the Vichy Catalan brand registered in May 1890. Best drunk cold for a better appreciation of its organoleptic properties, Vichy Catalan also contains trace amounts of Lithium. The blend of carbon dioxide, sodium and bicarbonate give an agreeable taste and a highly characteristic sparkling sensation on the tongue and palate.
